News from Denis Dundon, tireless and enthusiastic organiser of the jazz concerts, first at The Rhythm Station in Rawtenstall and latterly St Mary's Chambers, also in Rawtenstall, where in recent years East Lancashire jazz aficionados have been able to see and hear some of the finest jazz musicians on the planet.
Denis tells me that his organisation is moving to a new home, Haslingden Cricket Club, which is an excellent venue, an opinion I can express with authority from having worked there in the past. There is ample off-road parking, the function room is separate from the members' lounge, the staff are friendly and the cost of the drinks contrasts very favourably with most other licensed premises.
Concert nights will continue to be Wednesday, from 8.30pm until 11.00pm, fortnightly, on the second and fourth week in the month. The grand piano, which has always been a feature of the concerts, and which is used by the resident keyboards maestro Dennis Freedman and visiting musicians who play the instrument, will be making the move from St. Mary's Chambers to Haslingden Cricket Club.

A commemorative DVD of the last night at the ( old ) Rhythm Station is now available priced at £12-00 each, all proceeds go to the club.

A 1hr-51 mins of the Al Cohn & Zoot Sims tribute by Karen Sharp & Robert Fowler. There will be a limited number of DVD ‘s so don't miss out you can order by email at denis@dunrhythm.co.uk or phone 0161 796 0275 or at the club.

This DVD was taken by our long time friend and official photographer Alan Spencer who's jazz photo's are some of the best in the country. He also is a great supporter of the club and assists in many ways with accommodation and travel for visiting artists, without his help we would find it very difficult to bring most of the guys from all over the world to Rawtenstall, thanks! once again Alan and long may you continue to do so.

The rest of the presentation is I'm afraid my first attempt at producing a DVD but as this is not intended for public performance but to commemorate jazz at the Rhythm Station and to help with the finance and we hope the continuation of live jazz at The Chambers in 2009. Please forgive the imperfections that I have missed or could not correct due to lack of expertise. Denis Dundon Promoter. I do hope you enjoy the DVD of the last night at what was the friendliest Jazz Club in the North -West . With the help and support of you all, I hope this will remain and the same friendly atmosphere we have enjoyed for the past eleven years, will transfer effortlessly to the new venue. Through Dunrhythm I will promote Live. Jazz at Haslinden-C.C. as we may not be able to use the Name( The Rhythm Station ) any longer, but I think JAZZ AT THE FIELD has a certain ring to it and lends itself quite nicely for promotion.
